China has Greatest Ecommerce Potential out of Developing Countries.
29 June 2012

In this year's '2012 Retail Ecommerce Index' by AT Kearney, it has been announced that China is the developing nation with the greatest Ecommerce/Online Retailing potential. The report looks at 30 of the worlds developing nations, and chooses a top 10 based on their findings.

The report has found that China is the clear leader with a $23 billion online retail market. It is currently only behind the United States in the global ranking, which is incredible for a 'developing' nation. However it doesn't stop there, as over the next five years, the Chinese Ecommerce market is expected to increase by 29% per annum. This astronomical growth will occur due to the continuously improving infastructure and investment in the Chinese economy.

Brazil and Russia occupy second and third place respectively, meaning that three out of the four BRIC countries occupy the top three places on the 2012 Retail Ecommerce Index. Brazil's Online Retail market is worth $10.6 billion, and Russia's is worth $9.1 billion.
