When you send items of a personal nature PostNL classifies these as letters. For this type of mail PostNL offers services that are specifically designed to distribute letters.

If you regurlarly send large volumes of mail items that are of different shapes, sizes and weights, Bulk Mail Mixed is the most convenient option.However, if you regurlarly send mail items of the same shape, size and weight Bulk Mail Small, Large or Special are a better option.

That depends on the quantity of mail you send. If you occasionally send mail to the Netherlands then the standard tariffs are applicable. However, if you regurlarly send large volumes of mail then we can offer you Bulk Mail tariffs. If you use PostNL’s services frequently, lower prices become available through so-called revenue-related rates. Please send us your mailing details so we can offer you a price based on what you actually send.

Family names in the Netherlands quite often contain "van", "van der", "de" or "ter". These are not capitalised when the full name is written e.g. Johanna van Rijn. However, when used in the salutation then it is capitalised e.g  Geachte mevrouw Van Rijn.

 

The street name is followed by the housenumber with just one spacing and no commas or other punctuation. PO Box is called Postbus in Dutch and street is straat.

 

If you send mail from abroad into the Netherlands then you must also mention the country fully capitalised e.g. THE NETHERLANDS
